 I am a huge believer in supporting fact fluency.  I know.... I know... Common Core and every blog you read (from the experts) say..... "No more drills!"  I do believe we have to teach strategies and the understanding of facts before we can force students to timed drills.  They need to work with the numbers and discover how the math works.  However, once you are through that process students really need to work through practice and assessment.
